You are Here

Belabre is located in the Brenne Natural Park in the Indre district of the Poitou Charentes region. This small town has all the facilities that you will need for your holiday.

The cottage itself is less than 100 meters from the town's supervised Swimming Lake which is a popular attraction for the visitors of the adjacent French holiday park. Other attractions include tennis and mini-golf, along with fishing, boating and canoeing on the River L'Anglin.

Being within 20 meters of the main town square, guests have ample car parking space and easy access to the town's main shops and facilities. Just ask for directions to the town's two focal points, its church or its popular restaurant bar, and you will be within a stone's throw of the cottage, sheltered in the quiet one way street of Rue Pasteur.

Regional Guide : With around 2250 sunshine hours per year, you have to go to the Mediterranean coast to do better! The Poitou-Charentes benefits from an exceptional micro-climate in mid western France bordering the Atlantic Ocean.

Poitiers, the administrative capital of the region, is steeped in history with its romanesque churches, half-timbered houses and ancient market place, dominated by the cathedral "Notre-Dame", seen here during the evening polychrome projections (Jun-Sep) which try to re-create the original 13th century painted facade.

Just a 10 minute drive from the city centre we arrive at what is undoubtedly the region's largest tourist attraction... the Futuroscope is Europe's premier image theme park. Attractions include giant imax cinema screens, 3-D cinemas, 360° screens, virtual reality/internet park and many more too numerous to list here. Click on the link above to visit the Futuroscope website.

To the west of Niort you'll find the "Marais-Poitevin" or Green Venice. This protected natural park is a rich fenland labyrinth, crossed by hundreds of canals, now mainly used for pleasure trips in flat bottomed boats although some of the locals still transport goats and cattle.

Spend a day on the fabulous sandy beaches of the Charente-Maritime & visit the bustling harbour town of La Rochelle with its imposing twin towers, fine houses and arcaded shopping streets, or an easy drive north to the Loire valley and explore the famous chateaux and wines.
